Nmixx is a South Korean girl group formed by SQU4D, a sub-label of JYP Entertainment. Initially known as JYPn, the group name was officially announced as NMIXX on January 26, 2022. The group debuted on February 22, 2022, with the single “Ad Mare” and initially consisted of seven members: Lily, Haewon, Sullyoon, Bae, Jiwoo, Kyujin, and Jinni. However, Jinni departed on December 9, 2022, for personal reasons, after which Nmixx continued as a six-member group. The name “Nmixx” combines “N,” symbolizing “now,” “new,” and “next,” with “mix,” representing the concept of combination and diversity, thus denoting “the best combination for a new era.”
JYP Entertainment first announced the group on July 9, 2021, marking their first girl group launch since ITZY in 2019. In July 2021, the group offered pre-orders for a limited-edition debut package titled Blind Package, containing their debut single and related materials. From August to November 2021, JYP released dance videos and covers showcasing the members.
Their debut was postponed after member Bae tested positive for COVID-19, delaying the original showcase from February 22 to March 1. In May 2022, they collaborated with DreamWorks Animation for the Korean version of Gabby’s Dollhouse soundtrack. Later that summer, they participated in Project Ribbon’s Summer Vacation Project, covering Rainbow’s 2009 track “Kiss”.
Their second single album, ENTWURF, was released on September 19, 2022, featuring the lead single “Dice.” In November 2022, they released “Funky Glitter Christmas,” an “Intermixxion” single described as a standalone release between main albums. After Jinni’s departure in December, the group returned in March 2023 with their first EP, Expérgo, featuring the title track “Love Me Like This.” Following this release, they embarked on their Nice to Mixx You Showcase Tour across the United States and Asia. In May 2023, JYP announced an expanded partnership with Republic Records, incorporating NMIXX along with other JYP groups.
In July 2023, Nmixx released their third single album, A Midsummer Nmixx’s Dream, which included the title track “Party O’Clock,” composed by J.Y. Park. Later, the group held its first fan concert, Nmixx Change Up: Mixx University, in Seoul, extending to Hong Kong, Taipei, and Macau in 2024. In January 2024, Nmixx released their second EP, Fe3O4: Break, featuring the pre-release track “Soñar (Breaker)” and lead single “Dash.” In October, they announced their second fan concert series, Mixx Lab, and followed up with their third EP, Fe3O4: Stick Out, featuring “See That?” as the lead track. A Spanish version of “Soñar” was released on October 11, reflecting their continued global engagement.
